Lifeboat Week 2011 = done!

Wow, what a week! We'd like to say a massive thank you to all the people who helped at or attended one of our events. We've got loads of pictures to go through but we'll make sure that we get them online as soon as we can.

In the mean time . . . make a note in your diary. Lifeboat Week 2012 = 10-19 August. If you're a golfer we've got a new event for you on the first day, more details to follow.

Saturday, 20 August 2011

Lifeboat Saturday - 20 Aug

Thanks to everyone who joined us at Prince Albert Gardens last night, what a great night!

We've got another busy day ahead of us. We've got stalls, Bar & BBQ at Prince Albert Gardens all day, the build-a-boat competition, the raft race, more live music this time from 'The Stage Crew' and 'The Reptiles' and fireworks at 2145!

Flag Day - Fri 19 Aug

Friday is our annual flag day. If you see one of our volunteer collectors please cross the road and put some change in their box.

If you're really lucky you might even stumble across 'Stormy Stan', we're reliably informed that he's having a long weekend in Swanage to help with the fundraising.

Don't forget that you can download an events list here. We look forward to seeing you at one or more of the events.

Live Music, Bar & BBQ - Fri 19 Aug

On Friday evening Prince Albert Gardens in Swanage is going to be the place to be. Cliff Lift & the ZigZags begin the entertainment with a lively set from 6pm. We've not had them play for us before, but they are a local band from the Bournemouth area and have an excellent reputation as a live band.

As ever there will be a fabulous bar with local beers and ciders, the BBQ will be fired up and providing delicious food once more.

The Wiseleys will be playing once more from 8.30pm, back for their third stint at lifeboat week. This incredible London based band will set out to once more blow your socks off with their energetic sound.

Entry is free and the Bar and BBQ will be open from 6pm to 11pm.

Do yourself a favour...don't miss this evening!

Lighthouse Loop - 5k fun run

The second ‘Lighthouse Loop’ 5k fun run will be held on the 21st August on the final day of Lifeboat Week 2011.

Strictly a fun run, the course will take entrants up the downs with views across Durlston Bay to the Isle of Wight before entering the spectacular Durlston Country Park and following the cliff line to the Castle, currently undergoing major renovation work.

From here the course follows well defined trails to Tilly Whim (with the chance of spotting a few dolphins if you’re lucky) before heading to the top of the ridge ready for the downhill return journey.

Open to anyone, just turn up at Prince Albert Gardens from 8 o’clock to register for £5.  The race will start at 9 o’clock and a prize giving for juniors, adults and veterans will be held shortly after the last runner completes the circuit.

Teas, coffees and bacon butties will be available throughout the event, what a great way to start the day!
